VOLUNTEER CORNER NEWSPAPER LISTING
Each week 211 Information and Referral publishes the "Volunteer Corner" in local newspapers.
Agencies are encouraged to submit volunteer opportunities to Kristin at newspaper@utahfoodbank.org. Submissions must be received by Tuesday to be published the following Thursday in the City Weekly and Deseret News and Saturday in the Salt Lake Tribune.
This service is free and is available on a first come, first served basis. Individual contact numbers are not provided to newspaper readers. Potential volunteers are instructed to contact 211 Information and Referral for agency contact information.
Please include the following information for submission:
- Agency name
- Contact person
- Contact phone number
- SHORT description of volunteer opportunity including relevant dates and times
An example of a newspaper ad:
"Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center
Looking for volunteer coaches for Jr. Jazz Basketball! Only takes 2-3 hours per week. Clinics and practice start December 4th and the regular season begins January 6th. Scorekeepers also needed Sign up now!"
A special note to
Hospice volunteer coordinators:
211 Information and Referral does not list individual
hospice opportunities, because we reserve the newspaper space for nonprofit and government agencies. Space permitting, 211 will list a
general call for hospice volunteers every couple of months. When potential
volunteers contact 211 for hospice volunteering, information will be
provided about a variety of hospices. If your hospice wishes to be included
please contact Kristin. Hospices are encouraged to list volunteer opportunities
online and
in our printed volunteer lists.
